First Embu kidney transplant set for tomorrow - 9 months ago, 17 Maý 01:39

Doctors at Embu Level 5 Hospital will tomorrow carry out the first kidney transplant in the county.

Governor Martin Wambora on Tuesday said surgeons were ready for the medical milestone.

Wambora said the patient has been undergoing dialysis for weeks after his kidneys failed.

On February 26, Embu carried out the first brain surgery in Eastern. Wambora said 22 more have been conducted since then.

 "Embu has become popular for surgeries. Many people are now coming to us,” Wambora said.

He spoke at Iriari Primary School, where he distributed food, blankets, mattresses and iron sheets to 16 families displaced by a landslide last week.
