Cofek rejects bid to create land task force - 9 months ago, 22 Maý 17:46

The Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) has faulted the decision to establish a task force on digitising the land management system.

Cofek secretary-general Stephen Mutoro said the formation of the team to address shortcomings of the Land Information Management Systems is illegal and unprocedural.

On Monday, Land secretary Farida Karoney and Law Society of Kenya (LSK) agreed on an all stakeholders’ representative task force be formed to recommend implementation guidelines of the electronic registration and conveyancing system in compliance with Regulation 90 of the Land Registration (General Regulations 2017).

“Our attention is drawn to an advertisement by the Cabinet Secretary for Land Ms Farida Karoney purporting to request nominees for ‘a Task force on Electronic Registration and Conveyancing System’.
