- Deputy President acknowledged the land on which Weston Hotel sits on was illegally acquired

- He however argued he was an innocent purchaser who was conned by an individual who sold the parcel to him

- Ruto said the person who sold that land to him needs to compensate him as a victim of fraud

- National Land Commission chairman Muhammad Swazuri said Ruto acquired the land without following required procedure

Deputy President has reiterated his innocence in the purchase and ownership of the prime land on which Weston Hotel sits own.

Acknowledging the highly contested parcel was acquired illegally, Ruto said the person who sold him the property should carry the blame.

In an interview on BBC’s Hardtalk, Ruto said he was conned into buying the land hence a victim of fraud.
