There’s nothing worse than coming home after a day in the office only to notice your lipstick is halfway down your chin or, even worse, all over your teeth. To make matters worse it is so sad when you’ve applied your favourite lipstick in the morning and it doesn’t last all day, what a shame right? Well not to worry, there are tips and tricks that will have you smiling all day long because you’ll get to make your lipstick last longer. Great right?
If you don’t use lip liner then it’s time to get acquainted. Apply lip liner to the outline of your lips, as well as filling in the majority of your lip. Lip liners create a great base for lipstick and prevents any chance of bleeding.
This is the perfect time to invest in a lip brush. Take an extra few seconds to apply you lipstick with a lip brush, rather than straight from the bullet. A brush ensures that you layer the lipstick, which, in turn, makes it last way longer. Using a brush also provides much more control.
Use a concealer or foundation on the lips if you want the true colour to shine through. Concealer or foundation acts as a base for lipstick to adhere to, which will help lipstick stay on longer. Another added benefit of concealer is that it cancels out your lips natural hue, which can alter the appearance of a lipstick colour.
Is the key to creating a perfect, smudge-free lipstick look. Once you have applied lipstick, take a thin piece of Velvex tissue and place it directly over the lips. Once this is done, take a brush with translucent setting powder and dab it directly over the lip area. This process ensures all the excess lipstick is blotted away and the staying power will be much greater due to the setting abilities of translucent powder. Adding translucent powder is also a great trick for making lipsticks matte.
