WhatsApp now labels 'forwarded messages' in war on fake news - Nairobi News

Mobile messaging service WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that labels forwarded messages automatically for context.

The extra feature is characterized by a text (forwarded) on top of any message that users share from within Whatsapp.

According to WhatsApp, this extra feature helps users determine if their friend wrote the message they sent or if it originally came from someone else.

This, however, does not mean that messages without the ‘forwarded’ label are originally authored by the sender since copy-pasting defeats this feature.

The extra feature is available on latest versions of Whatsapp.
