The popular Swedish clothing brand put up an image of an African American boy modelling a hoodie and the message of that hoodie is what have people up in arms. ‘Coolest Monkey in the Jungle’ is what was imprinted on the hoodie and if you’d ask us, it does seem a bit off, it being modeled by a black child and all.   The public was quick to react and this is what some people had to say.         Now, we know that the term ‘monkey’ has long been used racially to refer to Africans and you wonder what motive the company had behind the post. Even though it was totally innocent, don’t you think that they should have considered how it would be perceived? Singer The Weeknd, who had been working with the brand with a modelling campaign showed his disappointment in them with this message. “Woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo. I’m deeply offended and will not be working with @hm anymore…”   A spokesman for H&M publicly apologized for this.
