Mumias East MP Benjami Washiali has called on Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to arrest and charge former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero for his role in the collapse of Mumias Sugar Company.
Washiali said a report by Capital Markets Authority (CMA) had sufficiently implicated Kidero who was a former Managing Director of the company hence wanted charges filed against him without further delay.
According to Washiali, the report clearly highlighted Kidero among individuals who had stolen from and killed the sugar company largely depended on by residents of Kakamega county, saying it was time for him to responsibility as an individual and with his cronies.
The collapse of Mumias sugar company and importation of illegal substandard sugar had pitted many politicians from Western Kenya against another prompting some of them to file a petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta seeking assistance.
