Teaser Trailer for Live-Action 'Dumbo' Makes the Movie Look Positively Magical

Dumbo is back—and more vibrant, colorful, and magical than ever! Judging from Disney's brand-new teaser trailer for the live-action version of the 1941 animated classic about the flying baby elephant, there's no doubt fans are in for a treat when it hits theaters on March 29, 2019.

The film stars Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, as well as Nico Parker (Thandie Newton’s lookalike 13-year-old daughter), and was directed by Tim Burton, who of course brought us Alice in Wonderland, as well as classics like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

This iteration centers on a floudering circus that makes an astounding comeback after circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant who can fly. Persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) then recruits Dumbo for his entertainment venture, Dreamland, which harbors dark secrets. (Fans of The Great Gatsby and The Greatest Showman are sure to be thrilled by the scenes set in Dreamland!)

“Walking on set was jaw dropping,” Farrell told PEOPLE. “Tim’s vision for this world and his honoring of not only the purity, but the true strength and resilience of children was like nothing I have been a part of in film before.”

DeVito had similarly warm words for the famed director. "I was so excited when I found out that Tim was gonna do it," DeVito shared with PEOPLE. "He captured the charm of the original that we loved and he kept all the values of the story, and what happens when you’re born different. It’s always been perfect for me that movie, with Mrs. Jumbo and Dumbo and the resolve at the end. And I didn’t know what to expect when I read the script — it’s so embracing all those things, but it’s taking it a step farther in the aspect of freedom."

For his part, Burton felt quite a bit of attachment to the story from the outset. "It was always one of my favorite Disney stories and one I had fond memories of,” he told PEOPLE. “It’s a very sweet story, and also very simple and primal — I think that’s why people like it so much. It’s about an outsider, someone who is misperceived, and I’ve always been drawn to stories like that."

Here's the teaser trailer in all its glory.

Spring 2019 can't come soon enough!
