Table toppers Blades tackle World Hope

By: Caxton Apollo

Kenya Basketball Federation men's Premier League leaders Blades will start as favourites against World Hope in their fixture at United States International University of Africa out door courts on Saturday from 4.30pm.

Blades made a strong start in the second leg winning two consecutive matches last weekend to climb to the top of the 11-team table.

They beat Trailblazers 57-41 and Kenya College of Accountancy-University 55-49 to increase their points tally to 21. Blades have so far won nine matches and lost three.

The men to watch at Blades are forward Fidel Okoth, Daryl Omondi and Cliff Alela.

Debutantes World Hope are bottom of the table with just one win and eight losses.

Their coach George Namake will need a miracle to end Blades’ impressive winning streak.

Ulinzi Warriors, looking to reclaim the men’s Premiership title they last held two years ago, confront KCA-U at the same venue from 3pm. The soldiers defeated Equity Bank 62-52 last weekend and coach William Balozi knows they cannot afford to drop any points at this crucial stage.

KCA-U fell 49-55 to Blades and hard working Felix Mfwaya will lead them in their fight to rediscover winning ways. Ulinzi Warriors will use their experienced forward Ancette Wafula, Hussein Mohamed and star point guard Eric Mutoro to dictate matters.

On Sunday, KCA-U will lock horns with Trailblazers from 3pm.

After losing their opening second leg matches at the weekend, Trailblazers and Equity Bank will meet in a return leg encounter expected to go either way. Equity Bank registered a huge 60-38 victory over their opponents in the first leg.
