The resignations at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirms the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta was fraudulent, Siaya Senator James Orengo has said.
In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Orengo demanded the disbandment of the entire commission since it has failed accountability, efficiency and accuracy tests as stipulated in the constitution.
"The resignations at the IEBC are a symptom of an incurable and cancerous disease that bedevils the commission. Without a doubt, it undermines the legitimacy of the Jubilee administration and confirms that its election was an electoral fraud," he claimed.
"The current IEBC is felonious enterprise. It was first captured by the State to rig the presidential election last year and then the commissioners and senior staff became greedy players in the procurement process and the business undertaken by the commission. There are no longer good or bad commissioners at IEBC. The organization is cursed," he said.
Further, the senator claimed the electoral body had refused to open its servers to be audited in the wake of contested presidential election.
"The commission has refused the conduct of a system audit and the right of access to data retained in its system including the servers following presidential election last year.
" It has failed accountability, efficiency and accuracy tests as stipulated in the Constitution.Corruption is deeply rooted in its operations for which Msando had to be brutally murdered to secure its fraudulent activities," he stated.
The Senate Leader of Minority noted Kenya will experience both political and constitutional crisis should the commission's Chairperson Wafula Chebukati not resign.
Following the resignations of Conslata Nkatha Maina, Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya, the IEBC remained crippled with only two commissioners, Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu.
Technically, the Chebukati-led team cannot conduct any business due to lack of quorum.
After the disputed presidential election, NASA principal Raila Odinga organised a series of nationwide demonstrations to hound Chebukati and his commission out of the office.
Raila accused IEBC of favouring his opponent President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In an interesting turn of events, vocal commissioner seven days to the repeat October 26 polls.
