Opposition leader Raila Odinga has reiterated the journey to Canaan he promised his supporters while seeking votes in the August 2017 General Election was on course.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader who was National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate in the polls said he might have changed the route and strategy to deliver Kenya to Canaan but the promised destination was intact.
Speaking during the Joseph Kamaru in Muthithi, Murang'a county on Thursday, October 11, Raila said his decision to shake hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta was a sacrifice made by both parties for the sake of attaining a unified country.
Using the analogy of Kenya's freedom fighters, Raila said his late father Jaramogi Oginga and Uhuru's dad the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta united in different fronts to overcome the colonialists, unity was a key ingredient of taking the country forward.
The Opposition leader said the Canaan NASA promised Kenyans was a peaceful land abound with good possessions for all Kenyans irrespective of their political, religious and ethnic backgrounds which was exactly what his had attained.
According to Raila his handshake with Uhuru is geared towards equalising and unifying Kenya and would deliver Canaan to his supporters, some who did not approve his move to work with Uhuru.
He was categorical their handshake's foundation would ensure Kenya was strongly together for many years thus surpassed by far the politics hinged on the 2022 succession of Uhuru.
