Opposition chief Raila Odinga’s decision to reconcile with President Uhuru Kenyatta has put a senior member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) – a wing of NASA – in an awkward position. The man – who has earned himself immense support among the opposition supporters through his role in the protracted political battle – is staring at sliding back to political oblivion. Known for his hard-hitting remarks, the combative politician has since rejected the deal between his boss and Uhuru, further annoying Raila’s diehard supporters. Elsewhere… An investor whose multi-billion enterprise has been at the centre of controversy has devised ways of fighting negative publicity around the project. The Grapevine has learnt of the businessman’s has resorted to hiring local politicians to defend the project in the face of his looming arrest by police for allegedly conning some contractors. It is understood that the political hirelings have been holding rallies to “sensitize” locals about the project and the myriad of benefits it will bring them. One of the politicians has, however, since severed links with the businessman after he refused to pay for the work well done. After spending several hours meeting locals about the project, the said politician went for his pay only to be met by the man’s dogs.
