Odinga: ODM not threatened by any political alliance

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga now says his party is not worried about any recent political developments in the country.

This comes amid reports of an ongoing coalition negotiation between the Gideon Moi-led KANU, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement and Musalia Mudavadai’s Amani National Congress (ANC) parties.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, Odinga, through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, on Wednesday said ODM is not on the campaign trail and is not threatened by those who have already hit the ground running for the 2022 General Election.

“ODM is singularly focused on ensuring that proposed reforms contained in the Building Bridges Initiative are realized as a way to a stable nation that provides required services to citizens,” says Odinga.

The former premier further added that ODM’s upcoming joint retreat of the party’s Parliamentary Group as well as the National Executive Committee, was agreed on at their last meeting held on May 8, 2018, in Naivasha.

He, therefore, maintained that the retreat is “not a product of panic or a reaction to any recent political developments as reported in sections of the media today.”

The National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal, however, added that “when the legally stipulated campaign period comes, ODM will whip all its members and rally them behind its candidate.”
