Nicki Minaj: 'My Music Is Better Because I'm Single' - ZUMI

She’s one of the biggest rappers in the world and has been for the past decade. Apparently now, Nicki Minaj is coming out blasting by saying that her music is better than ever now that she’s single.
Minaj (35) is coming out on August 1oth with a highly anticipated album called ‘Queen’. The record will be her fourth in her career. One single ‘Chun-li’ was released in recent weeks, while a second ‘Bed’ is due to drop today (June 14th, 2018).
The hip-hop star recently told Elle Magazine: “It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been single. I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life. And somewhere along the line, I just started second-guessing myself, for whatever reason. As soon as I realized that I could actually live and breathe, and eat and sleep, and walk and talk without having a boyfriend, something clicked in me. Becoming single was one of the things that made
me feel strong and powerful. The fact that I am a young woman who doesn’t need a man for money. I don’t need a man for a job. I’ve never had to f*** for beats. I’ve never had to f*** for a record deal. I don’t have those pressures. I get up when I want, shop when I want.”
It is really hard to tell whether Nicki Minaj is just reflecting on her past here, or whether she’s coming out and throwing shade at other members of the rap game. Whatever her reasons, good on her for standing up for her independence as an artist.
