Police in Narok County are investigating an incident where a police officer allegedly unleashed his firearm and killed his wife in the full glare of their eight-year old daughter.
Police sources intimated to TUKO.co.ke that the incident happened on the evening of Wednesday, November 14, in Trans Mara West sub-county.
The incident was reported at Kilgori police station by the minor who stays with her parents Solomon Muchuri Muthuku (accused) and Eunice Kerubo Thomas (deceased), about 200 meters from the station.
This incident comes barely a week after an other harrowing one where a Nakuru based police officer ended his wife's life using a gun assigned to him.
The officer later committed suicide using the same weapon, a development that sent shock waves, in the country on the raging wave of suicide and murder cases dogging the police service.
In another separate story filed on Thursday, November 8, TUKO.co.ke reported a suicide case where a recently deployed police officer ended his life. He was attached at Lungumek police station, Bomet County.
On Saturday, October 27, a cell sentry attached at a police station in Kitui hanged himself in his bedroom.
He left behind a suicide note claiming he was being blackmailed by people who wanted him sent to prison.
On the morning of Sunday, October 28, another police officer in Elgeyo Marakwet was found dead in his bed room in what police also believe to have been suicide.
The cases have since evoked public concern with a section of citizenry calling for speedy investigations.
This, they say, will to uncover what drives the officers to kill themselves, family and colleagues.
