- PS Lilian Omollo was let free after her sister Jackline Mbogo came to her rescue
- DPP Noordin Haji lost his bid to have her remain in police custody fearing they would use dirty money as bail
- The suspects are expected to report to the DCI once a week after they leave police custody
- Omollo is among suspects who were held for over two weeks in remand in relation to NYS scandal
Youth Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Lilian Mbogo Omollo is a grateful soul after the High Court finally accepted to set her free on bond after gruelling days in remand.
Omollo, who was among 43 other National Youth Service (NYS) suspects to be granted KSh 8 million to secure their release, was forced to remain in police custody after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji opposed their release.
TUKO.co.ke understands the PS got her much needed relief when her sister, Jackline mbogo came to her rescue and bailed her out.
The youth affairs PS and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai as well as other suspects breathed a sigh of relief when the court ordered their release despite DPP Noordin Haji's objection.
The Anti Corruption Court declined a request to keep them in custody ordering them to be freed pending the verification of their bail securities.
Omollo's release comes barely a day after Haji asked Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi not to verify her securities after doubts arose about securities posted by one of the accused persons.
The DPP argued they could not be freed on bail because they posed a flight risk and that some of them were likely to intimidate and interfere with witnesses.
