Kenya Railways Corporation has temporarily suspended booking of Madaraka Express tickets that are operational from January 1, 2018. Kenya Railways, through a public notice on Monday, said it would be rescheduling the passenger train service from January, occasioning the suspension. “As MNSGR will adjust N1/2 and E1/2 passenger trains’ schedules from 1 January 2018, please be informed that there will be a short temporary sale suspension of tickets that date from 1 January 2018. “We shall notice you in due course on when to recover the sales soon. Meanwhile, kindly accept sincere apologies for any inconveniencies caused,” said KRC in a notice to passengers on Monday. Reschedule KRC's announcement of the new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train schedule in the new year comes two weeks after the operator rescheduled arrival and departure times. The December 1 reschedule for both the express and inter-country train service followed the introduction of the latter in early November. Under the schedule, the inter-country train has been departing Nairobi at 0800hrs to arrive in Mombasa at 1300hrs. From Mombasa, the train leaves at 0715hrs to arrive in Nairobi at 1315hrs after making seven stops on the seven stations between the Nairobi-Mombasa route. Express train The first express train departs Nairobi at 1430hrs to Mombasa while from the coastal city, the train leaves at 1530 hrs for Nairobi. A second express train to Mombasa leaves Nairobi at 1530 hours to arrive in Mombasa at 2030hours. The inter-county train service to Mombasa has been leaving Nairobi at 0800am to arrive in Mombasa at 1330hrs.
