Government to increase woman reps’ fund – CAS

The government plans to increase funds allocated to woman representatives to promote development in rural areas.

Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Racheal Shebesh (pictured) yesterday said it is ironical that MPs get Sh100 million for development in constituencies when the county MPs are only given Sh10 million.

“Consultations are underway between the ministry, Treasury and the presidency to ensure allocation to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) is increased,” she said.

Shebesh spoke in Nanyuki during the distribution of bursary cheques for Sh2.8 million from the NGAAF.
