8pc fuel levy stands

3 months ago, 20 Sep 15:12

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has upheld the vote for the eight per cent levy on petroleum products.

The decision came shortly after he ordered a second round of voting, an announcement which sparked persistent protests by Members of Parliament.

The number of MPs in the House during the first vote was disputed, Speaker Muturi saying the screens showed that there were 352 MPs in the House, which is more than the 349 members.

The Speaker had suspended the sitting for 15 minutes so that the ICT department could rectify the anomaly.
