These are the things you need to know about breastfeeding as a first time mom.
Remember when you were small and you would pretend to be breastfeeding your small doll? At the time you probably never heard scary stories from mothers who would swear that breastfeeding was not as great as it seemed. Here are a few things you ought to know as a first-time mom.
Some mothers swear that breastfeeding for the first time is very painful. This is because your breasts will be sore and this is a first time experience. Your small baby will keep nibbling on your nipple even if there’s no milk.
Your small baby can’t eat a steak so your obviously the main source of nutrients. Your milk is what sustains the baby and it’s healthier than powder milk. However, you can still mix breastmilk with formula milk if you have to go to work.
This is rather obvious, formula milk is not cheap so if you have that milk please save that money and buy diapers instead.
It can be painful and uncomfortable hence why some women pump their milk, especially when the baby is asleep and you can’t wake him/her. You can also pump milk just to store it for your partner to use or the person who will be watching your baby.
As in it will disappear which can be quite worrying. This happens when you don’t breastfeed enough, so your milk supply just reduces. As much as it may be painful to breastfeed your baby all the time it is only healthy to maintain the consistency.
If you can, please brace yourself until you get good at breastfeeding. It is super convenient plus it’s a great way for you and your baby to bond.
