Ten Ugandan nationals have been arrested in Uhuru Estate, Nairobi while allegedly being trafficked to the Middle East.

According to Director of Immigration Alexander Muteshi, a Kenyan, who was allegedly trafficking the foreigners, was also nabbed and is set to be arraigned in court over alleged human trafficking.

“The Kenyan trafficker will be arraigned in court in the soonest time possible, said Mr. Muteshi in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The Immigration department did not reveal the identity of the suspect.

Meanwhile, 12 Chinese nationals including eight girls and four men were also nabbed after detectives raided two houses in South C Estate, Nairobi, in a crackdown targeting wanted fugitives, human traffickers, and other immigration violators.

The Immigration Director said the two residential houses are suspected to have been operating as brothels.

One of the four men has reportedly been on police radar since May 2017 on suspicion of being involved in prostitution and illegal gambling in the country.

According to the Immigration department, the said suspect had been kicked out of Kenya but managed to return using a different passport.

“The twelve have been documented as prohibited immigrants and are being processed for deportation for not only violating our immigration laws but also breaching the fundamental standards of integrity with regard to working and doing business in Kenya,” said Mr. Muteshi.
