When you learn to save a little, you understand the value of saving a lot. If you saved a 100 bob a day you would save 36,500 Kshs at the end of the year or if you saved a 1,000 Kshs a week you will save 52,000 Kshs at the end of the year. Here are some of the things you could do with what the money saved in 2018: Treat yourself to a well-deserved break, for instance, you could decide to visit Dubai. Currently, on average flights are from 30,000 Kshs and a 3-star hotel, prices are from 5,500 Kshs. If you, wanted to keep it local but still wanted an exotic destination, you could go to Lamu. You will spend an average of 20,000 Kshs, which covers for both flights and an Air B n B as a choice of accommodation. You could be like Noni Muchiri, the Kenyan YouTuber who also talks about how they managed to go on a girls trip in Lamu and got accommodation at discounted prices. Check out the video of her Lamu experience  You can revamp your house with buying a range of things like a couch, a new bed, utensils or maybe even decor items like a new painting. If you choose to do it the Jua Kali way you could, for instance, get a couch made for about 35,000 Kshs or get a 4 by 6 bed from 8,000 Kshs. With the remaining cash, you could go to places like Gikomba for utensils, bedsheets or pillows but if your feeling boujee you can also choose to shop at home decor brand stores that you will find in various malls across Nairobi. You may have thought of a business idea but have lacked the funds to begin conceptualising it. So this money would come in handy to help with starting out, like buying products, equipment or investing in paying for a business space. When you break down the amount to 100 bob a day rather than focusing on finding a way of saving 36,500, it becomes easier to do. So get yourself a piggy bank and begin saving a little a day, and then use the cash to do something memorable, which will act as an incentive to save even more the following year. Let the #save100bobaday challenge begin!
